Build and Configuration Management for Visual Studio

Why Build Manager?

Back in 1997 there were no automated build tools for Visual Basic. For teams developing anything over several activex objects the difficulties with managing references and versions of components got intrinsically more difficult with every new object added.

At the time G7x Software were producing object orientated solutions for various clients with some of these solutions utilising upwards of 100 distinct objects. The time taken to produce a new release for developers, testers etc was gradually getting longer and longer with many hours wasted producing a final build. And that was when all the objects compiled correctly and didn't change interfaces.

There were no commercially available solutions to help with the build process so we decided to create one to fill an obvious niche in the market and to streamline our own build processes.

In 1998 G7x Software were the 1st to market with an automated build tool for Visual Basic 5/6. This was a product designed and built by developers for developers. Over the years we have added feature after feature to Build Manager based on developer's feedback. What was once a simple application that would build projects in the correct order based on dependencies has grown to a full featured easy to use application.

Build Manager is used across all industries from Banking through to Manufacturing. We have clients with upwards of 750 objects per solution who use Build Manager as an overnight process. We have clients using Build Manager to automate the complete build process from compiling through to installation creation to deployment to the web.

We are always striving to make Build Manager a better product and openly welcome suggestions from our users. If you do have a feature you would like to see in Build Manager please fill in our Feature Request Form. If you have any other suggestions please fill in our Suggestions Form.
